Here's an idea. What about the theme tune from the "teletubbies" or perhaps "the birdie song" as a new united Cypriot national anthem?

Everybody would be happy. It could be sung in a new hybrid language called Turgreekish and we would all live together happily ever after!

Could it happen?

Well Panay, since Turkey came to Cyprus in 1571, Cyprus became Turkish, at least half Turkish half Greek so a national anthem if we can call it a national anthem since Cyprus is not a nation should be 18% in Turkish, 78% in Greek and 4% in other languages.

i voted with reservation because this effort is an extraordinary start, thanks to all of you, i'll add congratulations. two versions have not yet been sung, unheard it remains for each anthem to find their perfect tone.

...an anthem sung in more than one language is not a bad thing.

bilingualism in Canada and our National Anthem(s), (one in French and one in English), are melded by the artists who lead in its singing by all at public audiences, to save time respectfully bilingual versions are fashioned for example at sporting events, to represent the regional bias perhaps (e.g. all French or all English), or some distinctiveness the crowd would enjoy, no one is forced to sing the anthem in one language and/or the other, or bilingually in an Official version, some lines seem to be sung by all Canadians universally; this (if it is really happening) is occuring naturally over time. even the instrumental aspects have rendered beautiful rock and jazz interpretations, and controversy, (natural too in a Country where people have Free Expression).

this song, is our anthem, heard, it has a feeling and a soul that is this island's breeze, which when you learn the words you know, anyone who sings it with you loves this land too; and to die to keep it free, this song sings lovingly.

...anyway i have added this version to my playlist, and the thread is now in my favorites.

chhhheeeerrrrssss!(CHEERS, but not so loud).
