But I liked teh Nurofen- answer
glitterygert, 31 is a brand of Cyprus Brandy, and its spoken "trianda-ena", just the greek number 31. Thats all.
Cheers! |

| I believe it's a Cypriot brandy GG... possibly distilled by LOEL although not certain about that. |

| I can confirm that LOEL is the culprit and that 31 is the favourite pastime of most Turkish Cypriot's I know. In fact Kemal (Bizim Ahir) told me that he had a way of keeping up his supplies during 74-03 while the borders were closed. The empty bottles of 31 outside his joint make up a mountain. I have also noticed that the Turkish Cypriot's drink it in long glasses with added water and ... wash it down with yogurt. Is this what you do, brother. I also have a confession to make. Turkish Cypriot yogurt is miles better than Greek Cypriot yogurt and my yogurt opinion is not biased ... |

I drink mine in a variety of ways including the way you mentioned and also i like it with coke(not diet) as for yoghurt, well its one of many meze's i like at my table.
During the years that the border was closed my friend who lives in 'Pile' used to hide it in his bag and bring it for me and in the uk you can get it from Greek Cypriot wholesalers in Enfield.
Now that its mentioned i am down to my last bottle, guess who i will be visiting this weekend. |
