... Would it be definite that a new flag would be created?
I really hope not. The current flag is very nice and is just right for the island. If we re-united it just shows that what a strong nation and the flag will represent our problems AND the fact that we overcome them.
What do you think?
So will a new flag definitely be made then?
Leon. |

| I am not too bothered and could happily accept the current one or a new one hence my vote. |

| I as a T.C born and raised to think that the current Republic of Cyprus flag is the flag of G.Cs. So I can never think of it as my flag. I am sorry but that's what I feel, which so do many T.Cs I believe. A new flag similar to the current one will be better imo. |

| Still this doesn't change it. Besides before 1974, Republic of Cyprus flag was no more than a symbol. It became more prominent after 1974, since G.Cs dropped the idea of Enosis and became more supporter of Republic of Cyprus. These I didnt make up. I read it from the book by Papadakis! He says, G.Cs started celebrating the independence of Republic of Cyprus after 1974. |

| I personally like the current flag, but a 'modernised/similar' version, like the ones we have made, would not be a bad thing. |

As I said many times, I like the current Republic of Cyprus flag, but I can understand if Turkish Cypriots do not feel represented by it or don't like it and can not identify with it.
Hence I voted yes.
If a new one needs to made then it should be similar. I think we have a few nice ones created here... |

| I dont understand the question, if a new flag is not chosen then which flag are we going to use? To my way of thinking there are two states in Cyprus |

Are you talking about the present or the future with a solution in mind?
If you are talking about the present, then there is only one state in Cyprus, part of which is illegally occupied by Turkey.
If you are talking about the future with a solution in mind, then the two federal states are only for internal administrative purposes and without international sovereign status and representation. |

| A whole generation of Turkish Cypriot's have no link with the Republic of Cyprus flag. Garbitsch like myself associate it with Greek Cypriot and could not imagine unification under that flag. |

That's a shame, given that it was a Turkish Cypriot who created the original. But what you say is true, it may not be a huge issue, but any flag should be one under which people of both communities are prepared to rally. |
